Cougars Outlast Trojans in Exciting Region 20 Win
Frederick Community College Cougars men's soccer earned a hard-fought 4-3 win over Allegany College of Maryland on Tuesday, giving the Cougars their second victory of the season. Praise Ngoma opened the scoring in the 21st minute off a feed from Omar Aguilar, but Allegany responded quickly to send the game into halftime level at 1-1.
The Cougars came alive in the second half, as Yeiferson Mendez put FCC ahead with a composed finish in the 59th minute before Aguilar added his own goal to restore the lead following an Allegany equalizer. Angel Diaz delivered what proved to be the game-winner in the 85th minute after combining with Ngoma, and despite a late push from the Trojans, Frederick held on for the 4-3 victory.
Aguilar led the attack with eight shots, while Diaz, Ngoma, and Mendez each found the back of the net in a balanced offensive effort. With the result, the Cougars improve to 2-8-1 on the year and will look to build momentum when they return home to face Anne Arundel Community College on Thursday, October 2, at 4:30 PM.
