Isaac and McIntosh Record Double-Doubles in Win over Hawks

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Frederick Community College men's basketball team hit the road on Wednesday night for a conference match-up against the Hawks of Hagerstown Community College. The Cougars turned in a stellar performance on the defense end holding the Hawks to just 29 first half points and only 33 second half points. The Cougars clip the Hawks (11-11, 7-6) to register a key conference win, 73-62. FCC is now 8-12 on the season, including 6-7 in the conference.
Both teams started slow offensively missing shots to start off the game. At the 15:00 mark of the first half, the Hawks led 9-6. From there, the HCC went on a run and extended their lead to 25-11 with 8:00 minutes to go in the half. It is at that point when the Cougar defense performed at its best as they held Hagerstown scoreless for the next five minutes as Keith Claiborne and Jacob McIntosh connected on multiple field goals. FCC would go on a run of their own and take a 33-29 lead into the locker room.
The start of the second half was back-and-forth highlighted by an Anthony Isaac drive and dump to Jacob McIntosh who throw down a monstrous one handed slam in the paint. The Hawks would not go down without a fight as they regained the lead with 14:43 to play, 43-38. Over the next two minutes, Cyree Dunnell and Anthony Isaac connected on three consecutive three-pointers to get the Cougars back in front, 47-43. At the 3:46 mark, the Cougars had their largest lead of the game, 63-51. FCC continued to hold off the Hawks the rest of the way and prevailed, 73-62.
Isaac and McIntosh each finished with with 17 points and 10 rebounds. For Isaac, this is his third double-double in a row. Teammates Keith Claiborne finished with 12 points while Tyre Gathright and Cyree Dunnell chipped in with 9 points.
The Cougars are still fighting for a conference tourney playoff spot, but need to finish the season strong and need a little help along the way. FCC will return to the hardwood on Saturday when they play host to BCCC game. Come out and show your support! Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm at the Athletics Center.
