FCC's Hot Shooting Leads To 118-80 Win Over AACC

Arnold, Md. - After an eleven day layoff, the FCC men's basketball squad hit the road to take on the Riverhawks of AACC. Seven players scored in double figures for Frederick Community College in a 118-80 victory over Anne Arundel Community College on Wednesday night. It was a total team effort by the Cougars as their defense forced 14 Riverhawks turnovers which led to easy transition baskets. FCC shared the wealth in an up-tempo game by assisting on 11 of 16 first-half baskets while shooting 16-of-33 (48.5%) from the field and connecting on 19-25 (76%) from the line. The Cougars took a convincing 55-39 heading into halftime.

The Cougars had a balanced attack in the first twenty minutes of action led by Tyre Gathright (11 pts, 3 rebs, 3 asts), Keith Claiborne (9 pts, 5 asts), Jacob McIntosh (9 pts, 2 stls), Anthony Isaac (7 pts, 4 rebs), and Nygel Blake (9 pts, 2 stls).

The Cougars continued their balanced attack in the second half, extending the lead throughout the period. FCC connected on 23-of-39 (59%) field goals by converting eight steals into easy baskets and assisting on 11 of their 23 shots.

Anthony Isaac led the way for the Cougars (3-4, 2-1 Maryland JUCO) with 18 points and eight rebounds in the victory. Teammate Jacob McIntosh scored 16 points and put in a sold performance. Point guard Keith Claiborne had 15 points and dished out six assists. Tyre Gathright and Marlon White each netted 14 points. Gathlirght pulled down seven rebounds. Keon Claiborne chipped in with 13 ponts and Nygel Blake had 12 points and three swipes. In his first collegiate start for FCC, Javon Daniels had three steals.

FCC returns to the hardwood on Saturday, December 3rd, in a MD JUCO match-up at CCBC Catonsville. Tip-off is set for 4:00 P.M.
