No. 6 Essex County College (NJ) defeats Frederick Community College, 68-51

New Rochelle, N.Y.- Frederick Community College men's basketball team had little turnaround time following a Saturday loss (78-64) to nationally-ranked No. 14 Richard Bland College. On deck was national powerhouse Essex County College (NJ) on Sunday afternoon. The Wolverines have won the Region XIX Championship three consecutive seasons.

During the contest, both teams accumulated 26 fouls apiece, which led to quality bench minutes for both teams. In the end, it was Essex County connecting on more field goals (24-58, 41%) than Frederick's (17-54, 32%) to pull away for the 68-51 win.

Eleven players saw double-digit minutes for Frederick (1-3). Tyre Gathright led the Cougars once again netting 16 points and pulling down five rebounds. Anthony Isaac chipped in with eight points and nine rebounds in the loss.

The Cougars return to the hardwood on Wednesday night at Frederick Community College in their first conference contest of the season against Cecil College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
