Cougars Walk It Off and Roll Past Cecil to Extend Win Streak to Eight

Frederick Community College Cougars delivered their eighth win in a row with a statement doubleheader sweep, edging Cecil College 3-2 in dramatic fashion before cruising to a 10-0 win to improve to 21-9 overall and 12-4 in Region 20 play.

Game one challenged Frederick, as the Cougars were down 2-0 in the later innings before rallying. Jack Clarke initiated the comeback with an RBI double, and in the bottom of the seventh, Andrew Varga equalized the score, followed by Wayne Kullman's walk-off single that sealed the victory. Niko ThaLassinos pitched effectively in relief to finish the game on a high note.

Frederick carried that momentum into game two and never looked back, controlling the game from the second inning on. Cole Swinimer and Varga set the tone at the top of the order, combining for key RBIs, while Jack Clarke and Luis Perez Alfaro continued their consistent production in the middle of the lineup. The Cougars capitalized on patient at-bats, drawing eight walks and aggressive baserunning to break the game open with a six-run fifth inning. On the mound, Vincenzo Cusat and Daniel Jakubowyc combined for a shutout effort, limiting Cecil to just five hits.

Next up, Frederick heads to Shenandoah University on Thursday, April 16, for a doubleheader scheduled for 2:00 PM.
