Rabat Named MD JUCO Student-Athlete Of The Month
By Kevin Carver:
BEL AIR, Md. - A trio of fall stars were named MD JUCO September Student-Athlete of the Month. Anne Arundel's Garrett McLendon, the conference's leading scorer for men's soccer, Frederick's Emily Rabat, first-place volleyball's ace, and Howard's women's soccer brick wall Darcey Bodziony all took home the honors.
Rabat was a huge force in the record-setting run for the No. 18 Cougars in September. Frederick won 15-straight matches and 37 out of 38 sets in the month to vault into first-place in the MD JUCO. Rabat, a 2014 First-Team All-Conference performer, totaled 142 kills and a .304 hitting percentage. She also added 53 service aces and 70 digs for the Cougars. Rabat totaled seven double-digit kill outings in September, including 16 kills and a .542 hitting clip in a sweep at Cecil. In a rare off-night against Anne Arundel, where she totaled just three kills and seven errors, the sophomore made up for it with a career-high 10 service aces in the 3-0 victory.
