Cougars End 18-game Win Streak In Battle With Jackson College

Frederick, MD.- The Lady Cougars ended their 18 game win streak in a tough fought battle with the visiting Jets from Jackson College. Frederick had a tough time finding their rhythm in the first two sets but found their momentum and fired back to take games three and four. The Cougars ultimately fell to the Jets in five sets.  

The competitive first game was back and forth from the start and ended in the same fashion 25-21 to Jackson. The Cougars struggled to grasp the lead with 19 unforced errors in game two dropping the second set 25-15. Headed into game three, FCC found their spark and came out ready to fight. With stellar passing and commitment to defense, the Cougars found their rhythm including aggressive serving by Colleen Weant and Emily Rabat. Frederick took back to back sets winning games three and four, 25-20 and 25-15 respectively.   

Emily Rabat led the team with 14 kills on the day followed by Erica Buls with six kills. Buls was able to find holes in the Jets defense and was extremely effective for FCC. Colleen Weant added five kills and four aces. Rabat also contributed six service aces. Victoria Bryant ran the Cougar offense with 34 assists. Victoria Ketner was solid for Frederick the entire set on serve receive creating opportunities for the team's offense. Ketner finished the game with 10 digs.  

The Cougars return to the court next Tuesday, October 13th at 7:00pm for a MDJUCO match up with College of Southern Maryland. Frederick moves to 18-2 overall and remains 9-0 in MDJUCO play.
