No. 18 Volleyball Sweeps Harford

Bel Air, Md- The No. 18 nationally ranked FCC volleyball team hit the road on Thursday night for a key match-up against Harford Community College.  The Cougars headed into the contest a perfect 8-0 while the Fighting Owls had just one loss sitting at 8-1.

The opening set was a nailbiter as the Cougars won 30-28 to set the tone for the rest of the match.  FCC would keep the pressure on taking the second set 25-15 and finished a clean sweep taking the third set

Big-time players step up when the lights are shining bright.  Sophomore Emily Rabat was ready for the road challenge leading with 14 kills and registered 10 digs.  Freshman setter Victoria Bryant continues to deliver in the clutch dishing out 29 assists.  Erica Buls, Colleen Weant and Amy Gust each had five kills.  Gust also had three aces in the victory. The team had an outstanding serve receive game with Victoria Ketner nearly perfect on the night. Ketner's leadership in the back court shined through as the Cougars finished out the match in sweep fashion. Jackie Burns ended the third set in a serving streak that displayed her power from the endline and an example of the strength the Cougars have consistently demonstrated this season. 

Winner of eighteen straight matches, FCC sports an overall record of 18-1 and remain perfect in first place in the conference at 9-0.  The Cougars have won 46 out of the last 47 sets!

Harford drops to 17-8 overall including 8-2 in the MD JUCO conference.

UP NEXT: The Cougars will return to the hardwood on Saturday morning as they host the Jets from Jackson College (Jackson, MI).  Grab a doughnut, grab a coffee and come out and support the FCC volleyball team.  First serve is set for 10:00 AM.
