Hard-Fought Match Results in Cougars Draw with Hawks

The Frederick Community College Cougars men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with visiting Hagerstown Community College Hawks on Tuesday afternoon in Frederick. The Cougars conceded just 79 seconds into the match when Marvin Brown scored for the Hawks, but they showed grit and composure to work their way back into the contest. FCC's pressure finally paid off late in the first half when Praise Ngoma struck a penalty kick equalizer in the 40th minute, sending the teams into halftime level at 1-1.

FCC controlled more of the play in the second half, outshooting Hagerstown 10-6 overall and earning several promising looks on goal. Ngoma led the attack with two shots on frame while goalkeeper Thomas McCaffery anchored the back line with four saves to keep the Hawks from reclaiming the lead.

With the result, FCC moves to 0-3-1 on the season but showed marked improvement on its home pitch. The Cougars will be back in action on the road Thursday, September 11, with a 7:00 PM kickoff at CCBC Essex Knights.
