Cougars Unable to Overcome Early Deficit Against Howard

The Frederick Community College Cougars men's soccer team traveled to Columbia, MD on Friday afternoon for a Region 20 matchup against Howard Community College, where they came up short in a 5-1 defeat. The Dragons struck three times in the opening half, forcing Frederick to play from behind early, but the Cougars showed toughness and battled to create chances in the second half.

Howard extended its lead just after the break, but Frederick responded quickly as Praise Ngoma buried a shot off a setup from Fredy Hernandez to put the Cougars on the board. Ngoma's goal gave Frederick a spark as they generated seven second-half shots, but despite the improved attack, Howard's defense and goalkeeper held strong to keep the Cougars from closing the gap. FCC goalkeeper Thomas McCaffery turned in an impressive performance in net, recording 17 saves against 22 shots on goal to keep his team within reach.

With the loss, Frederick drops to 0-3 on the young season, but the Cougars will return home on Thursday, September 4, to host Harford Community College at 4:30 PM.
