Frederick Edges Montgomery in Nail-Biter at Home

Frederick Community College men's basketball pulled off a thrilling 87-86 victory over Montgomery College Raptors on Saturday in a Region 20 showdown that went down to the wire. The Cougars trailed 45-41 at halftime but surged in the second half, outscoring the Raptors 46-41 to claim their sixth win of the season and improve to 4-3 in Region 20 DII play.

Balanced scoring and clutch execution defined the win. Bryson Boyd led the way with 17 points on efficient shooting, while Brayan Nganpe provided a spark off the bench with 18 points, including four three-pointers. Thierry Patchou anchored the paint with a dominant double-double, posting 16 points and 15 rebounds. Kylan Johnson added 15 points and seven assists, orchestrating the offense down the stretch.

Frederick shot 53.1% from the field and the bench scored 37 points with key contributions from reserves like Brandon Williamson, who chipped in 11 points in limited minutes. Despite Montgomery's Ian Pascal exploding for 32 points, FCC's defensive adjustments and timely scoring sealed the one-point win.

The Cougars now look to carry this momentum into their next matchup on the road against CCBC Catonsville Cardinals on December 17 at 7 PM, their last game before the winter break.
