Frederick Falls on the Road to Howard Despite Deep Bench Contributions
The Frederick Community College men's basketball team dropped to 2-4 on the season after a 73-55 road loss to Howard Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars kept the game competitive through stretches of the first half, trailing just 37-28 at the break, but struggled to find consistent scoring as Howard gradually pulled away in the second half. Although Frederick showed fight and utilized its bench heavily, the Dragons' balanced offense and efficiency inside proved too much to overcome.
Frederick was led by Gabriel Jones, who delivered 10 points and knocked down two threes while providing steady minutes on the wing. Kylan Johnson added seven points and five assists, and Dayvon Dorsey anchored the Cougars on the boards with a team-high 10 rebounds. The bench provided an important spark, highlighted by Surzano Solomon's six points in limited action and solid contributions from Ryan Tientcheu, Elijah Palmer, and Cameron Canty. Despite the effort, the Cougars shot just 33.3 percent from the field and struggled from deep, converting seven of twenty-six attempts.
The Cougars will now turn their attention to their next home matchup on November 24 at 7 p.m., when they host the College of Southern Maryland at the Athletics Center.
