Frederick, Md. -
The 2015-2016 Frederick Community College team members were in attendance for its Ring Ceremony celebrating the Region XX D2 Championship and trip to the national tournament last season. This year's team looks to achieve the same type of postseason success by getting off to a good start against its first opponent of the season, Delaware Tech.

The Cougars started the game off strong, starting the game with a 22-16 lead. From there, cold shooting and foul trouble plagued the Cougars the rest of the first half. Delaware Tech recovered and capitalized at the free throw line by converting 14 of 19 in the first half taking advantage of the Cougar fouls to take a 30-28 lead.

The Cougars got off to a good second half start, led by Jacob McIntosh who gathered an offensive rebound followed by a put back on the first three possessions of the second half. McIntosh went on to finish the game with a double double, 16 points and 11 rebounds. However, the fast start was halted again by cold shooting and impressive second half performances from Delaware Tech's Oleksandr Melikhov (14 second half points) and Jahsun Greer (13 second half points).

After falling behind by 10 points, the Cougars clawed back to make the game competitive in the final two minutes of the game. The Cougars had an opportunity by gathering a defensive rebound and trailing by two points, 76-74 with several seconds left on the clock. Despite fighting back and making the game very competitive at the end with a chance to tie or win the game, the Cougars were unable to convert.

In the effort, Josiah Jones led FCC in scoring off the bench with 17 points, Keith Claiborne also chipped in 13 points and 5 assists including some clutch free throws in the end to make it competitive. Stacy Gipson also brought good energy off the Cougar bench adding 8 points and 7 rebounds.

The Cougars return to action Saturday afternoon to face Valley Forge who defeated 2015 National Champion Richard Bland in the first game of the Tip-Off.
