No. 12 Cougars Explode for Doubleheader Sweep Over CCBC Dundalk
The No. 12-ranked Frederick Community College Cougars swept a doubleheader against CCBC Dundalk at home on Sunday to improve to 11-6 overall. Playing in Frederick, the Cougars overwhelmed Dundalk in both games, combining for 37 runs in a pair of run-rule victories.
Game one quickly turned into a rout as Frederick rolled to a 21–2 win behind patience at the plate and timely hitting. The Cougars drew 14 walks and capitalized on nearly every opportunity, breaking the game open with a six-run third inning before erupting for 13 runs in the fourth. Andrew Varga led the offensive surge with six RBIs, while Braydon Kelman added three RBIs and Clayton Dorsey chipped in two more. Cole Swinimer set the tone at the top of the lineup, reaching base five times and scoring three runs. On the mound, Ethan Duff delivered a steady complete-game effort, allowing just two runs while keeping Dundalk off balance throughout.
Frederick carried that momentum into game two, securing a 16–2 victory in another shortened contest. The Cougars once again jumped out early and never looked back, scoring in every inning and applying constant pressure on the basepaths. Cole Swinimer paced the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Andrew Varga continued his big day with four RBIs. Clayton Dorsey added a triple and drove in a run, and Frederick's aggressive baserunning created scoring chances all afternoon. Colin Milligan earned the win with four solid innings, and Evan Hassinger closed the door with a clean relief appearance.
The Cougars will look to carry that momentum into their next matchup on Thursday, March 26 when they host Community College of Allegheny County for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM.
