Baseball Announces 2016 Recruiting Class

Frederick, Md.- The Frederick Community College baseball program once again added a standout class of top prep talent, signing eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Saturday, February 6th.

"This is a class that we are really excited about adding to our program because they meet the needs that we have identified," said Head Coach Rodney Bennett (14th season).  "We continue to look for student-athletes who fit in with what we're trying to accomplish and the expectations will remain high."

Heading into the 2016 baseball season, the Cougars are ranked 3rd in the nation.  Entering his 14th season at the helm, Coach Bennett has an overall record of 485-184 and the Cougars have registered 32 or more wins for the past ten seasons.  Under the tutelage of Coach Bennett, 144 former players have continued their playing careers and moved on to compete at four year institutions.

The Cougars finished the 2015 season with a remarkable 50-9 record and were ranked No. 2 nationally.  FCC was crowned Region XX DII champions & Northeast District Champions, earning a trip to the NJCAA DII World Series in Enid, Oklahoma where they finished fifth.  Chris Mattison was named 2015 DII National Player of the Year. 

Coach Bennett has led the Cougars to thirteen straight trips to the NJCAA Region XX tournament, 3 trips to the NJCAA Division II World Series, 4 Region Titles, 3 District Championships, 3 Region runner-ups and 3 MD JUCO Championships.
