Frederick Falls at Home to Cecil

Frederick Community College women's basketball ran into a challenging shooting night Wednesday evening, falling 70–55 to Cecil College in Region 20 DII action at home. The Cougars stayed within reach early but were unable to recover from a difficult second quarter, as Cecil built separation and maintained control the rest of the way. With the result, Frederick moves to 6-10 overall and 3-7 in Region 20 DII play.

Frederick trailed 39–22 at halftime after scoring just 10 points in the second quarter. The Cougars responded with an improved third-quarter effort, outscoring Cecil 18–12 behind stronger defensive pressure and increased activity on the glass. Trinity Lindblade led Frederick with 17 points, while Heaven Murray added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Maylee Regan contributed 11 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in a well-rounded performance.

Despite controlling the boards and creating extra opportunities, Frederick struggled to convert from the perimeter, finishing the night 3-for-24 from three-point range. Chebet Nganga anchored the paint with 12 rebounds and added six points, helping the Cougars compete physically throughout the game. Cecil's balanced scoring and second-chance points ultimately proved to be the difference, as Frederick was unable to close the gap late.

Frederick will look to reset and defend its home court in its next contest, when the Cougars host Community College of Allegheny County on Monday, February 9, with tipoff at 1:30 PM.
