Frederick Pulls Away Late in Convincing Home Win
Frederick Community College Cougars women's basketball delivered a strong all-around performance Saturday afternoon at home, rolling past Baltimore City Community College Panthers 81–52 on January 10 to improve to 6–7 on the season. After a competitive opening quarter, Frederick steadily took control behind efficient shooting and sustained defensive pressure, turning a six-point halftime advantage into a decisive fourth-quarter surge that sealed the victory at home.
Frederick set the tone early with balanced scoring and sharp perimeter shooting, building a 13–7 lead after the first quarter before exploding for 26 points in the second. The Cougars knocked down timely threes and moved the ball effectively, finishing the afternoon with 21 assists on 31 made field goals. Trinity Lindblade led all scorers with 29 points, including five triples, while Heaven Murray added a highly efficient 21 points and dished out nine assists to spark the offense. Frederick continued to apply pressure in the third quarter and fully broke the game open in the fourth, outscoring Baltimore City 21–8 over the final 10 minutes to pull away. The Cougars shot 43.7 percent from the field and drained 13 three-pointers, while also winning the rebounding battle 43–41 and forcing 19 turnovers, showcasing their ability to control the game on both ends.
With the win, Frederick continues to build momentum as the season reaches its midpoint. The Cougars return home for their next matchup on Wednesday, January 14, when they host Central Penn College at 5 PM.
