Fourth-Quarter Fury as Cougars Dominate Potomac State, 57–48

Frederick Community College women's basketball delivered a powerful finish, defeating WVU Potomac State College Catamounts 57–48 thanks to clutch free-throw shooting late in the game to seal their first Region 20 Division II win.

After a slow start that saw the Cougars trail 13–7, Frederick tightened defensively in the second quarter, holding Potomac State to just 4 points while scoring 16 to take a 23–17 lead at halftime. Potomac State responded with an 18–10 third quarter to inch ahead 35–33, but the final period belonged to Frederick: a relentless 24–13 run fueled by aggressive rebounding, solid half-court defense, and ice-cold free-throw shooting.

Trinity Lindblade put on a stellar performance for the Cougars, dropping 28 points with a 10-rebound double-double, going 10-for-10 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and 11-for-12 overall. Teammate Maylee Regan muscled through contact for 10 points and three emphatic blocks. Heaven Murray contributed nine points and nine rebounds, while Taliyah Alexander's timely three-pointer helped swing momentum when needed.

Frederick's resilience was evident everywhere—making 25 of 33 free throws, recording 10 assists to keep the offense flowing, and forcing 21 turnovers from Potomac State while limiting their three-point shooting to 0-for-10. Despite losing the rebounding battle, the Cougars owned the crucial moments, exploding down the stretch to secure a statement victory early in the 2025 season.

Frederick now stands at 2–6 overall and 1–4 in Region 20 Division II, with an opportunity to build on this momentum at home against Allegany College of Maryland on Saturday, December 6 at 12 PM.
