Frederick Struggles Early, Falls on the Road to Howard

The Frederick Community College women's basketball team dropped to 1-5 on the season after a 65-50 road loss to Howard Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars found themselves playing from behind early as Howard opened the game with a strong first quarter, taking a 22-10 lead and maintaining control throughout the first half to go into halftime up 43-23. Frederick responded with more energy in the second half, outscoring the Dragons 15-11 in the third quarter, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome despite improved defensive pressure and better offensive rhythm after the break.

Trinity Lindblade led Frederick with an all-around performance, finishing with 18 points, seven rebounds, and two steals while knocking down three three-pointers. Maylee Regan added 12 points and seven rebounds, providing consistency inside, while Heaven Murray battled on both ends of the court, contributing nine points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Despite the effort, Frederick shot just 33.9 percent from the field and struggled from beyond the arc, converting four of nineteen attempts.

While Frederick showed strength in the second half, the opening stretch ultimately determined the outcome. The Cougars will look to regroup and defend their home court when they return to action on November 24 at 5 p.m. against the College of Southern Maryland.
