Frederick Edges Penn State Mont Alto

Frederick Community College Cougars women's basketball secured its first win of the season, defeating Penn State Mont Alto 58-55 in front of a lively home crowd on November 8. The Cougars, now 1-1 on the year, battled through four tightly contested quarters to claim victory in their Saturday matinee.

Penn State Mont Alto came out strong, taking a 15-13 lead after the first quarter. Frederick responded in the second quarter, outscoring Mont Alto 16-15 to cut the deficit to just one point at halftime. The third quarter remained a back-and-forth affair, with Mont Alto clinging to a slim advantage heading into the final frame.

The Cougars saved their best for last, delivering a 15-point fourth quarter while holding Mont Alto to just 10 points. Trinity Lindblade led the charge for Frederick, pouring in 26 points and knocking down six three-pointers. Taliyah Alexander added 14 points and three steals, while Maylee Regan anchored the defense with 10 rebounds and two blocks. Frederick shot 32 percent from beyond the arc and forced 19 turnovers, a key factor in the comeback.

With 25 regular-season games remaining, the Cougars will look to build on this momentum when they host Hagerstown Community College on November 12 at 5 PM.
