Washington, DC – Heading into day two of the National TITLE IX Holiday Invitational women's basketball play, the FCC Cougars squared off against CCBC Essex on Saturday night. The Cougars knew they would have their hands full against a talented Knights' team. FCC fell behind 37-27 after 20 minutes of play, however, came out of the locker room and cut into the lead only trailing by five late in the contest. In the end, the Knights would defeat FCC by the score of 79-63, snapping a four game win streak for the Cougars.
Nia Powell continues her solid play and turned in another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Amiah Banks led FCC in scoring as she netted 17 points. Kennedy Middleton chipped in with seven points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Cougars shot just 20-of-55 (36.4%) from the field in the loss. FCC committed a season-high 35 miscues.
Next Time Out
FCC (10-3) will return to the hardwood on Sunday afternoon as they take on Harford Community College (12-2). Tip-off is slated for 1:00 PM.
