FREDERICK, Maryland – The Frederick Community College women's basketball team got off to a hot start and took care of business on the hardwood Wednesday night as they defeated Prince George's CC by the score of 97-73. With the win, FCC holds a record of 6-1 overall, including 1-0 in conference play.
Amiah Banks and Nia Powell were spectacular in the win. The duo combined for 55 points and were on fire from the floor. Banks poured in a game-high 31 points on 9-of-14 from the floor. She was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. Powell dominated in the paint and tallied 22 points on 10-of-13 from the field and recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds. As a team, the Cougars hit on 36-of-68 (52.9%) field goals in the win. Teammate Kennedy Middleton added 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
Little rest for FCC as they return to the hardwood on Saturday (11/23) at home against #9 Niagara County Community College. Tipoff is set for 1:00 PM.
