Cougars Split Road Battle at Harford in High-Scoring Showdown

Frederick Community College Cougars softball took Game 1 in convincing fashion with an 11-3 win over Harford Community College behind a huge offensive showing while Game 2 saw FCC jump out early and battle all the way through, but Harford walked it off late to split the day.

The Cougars delivered an impressive offensive performance in game one of their doubleheader against Harford Community College, using a dominant middle innings surge to secure an 11-3 victory on the road. After trading early runs, the Cougars broke things open in the fourth inning, plating five runs behind timely hitting from Ava Yockelson and Madison Ohler. Yockelson finished with four hits and three RBIs, while Ohler added two doubles and three RBIs to lead a 16-hit attack. Alondra Sidock was strong in the circle, going the distance while also contributing at the plate with a home run, as Frederick steadily pulled away and controlled the game from the fourth inning on.

Game two saw another fast start from the Cougars, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind clutch hitting from Leo Cline and Raegan Miller. Cline drove in three runs on the day and continued her strong offensive stretch, but Harford responded with a steady comeback, capitalizing on key opportunities late. Frederick briefly regained the lead in the seventh inning, only to see Harford answer with a walk-off rally to take a 7-6 win and split the doubleheader.

Despite the tough finish, the Cougars are 17-15 overall and 11-7 in Region 20 DII as they head toward their final regular-season doubleheader at home against Cuyahoga Community College, Sunday, April 26, starting at 2 PM.
