Cougars Push Win Streak to Four with Sweep Over Fayetteville Tech CC
The Frederick Community College Cougars softball team continued its strong start at the Fastpitch Dreams spring training tournament, sweeping a doubleheader from Fayetteville Technical Community College on Thursday to move to 4–2 on the season. The Cougars opened the day with a commanding 10–0 run-rule victory in five innings behind a locked‑in pitching performance and timely offense. Alondra Sidock set the tone in the circle, throwing four shutout innings while allowing only two hits, and Ava Yockelson closed the door with a scoreless fifth. Madison Ohler sparked the offense with a double and three runs driven in, and Addison Custer added three hits and two RBI. Frederick used a four‑run second inning and another four‑run burst in the fourth to take full control, cruising to the shutout win in Myrtle Beach.
Game two delivered a very different script, but Frederick was on the right side of an 11–10 walk-off thriller. After trailing early and falling behind 7–4 and later 10–7, the Cougars kept chipping away until their offense broke through late. Leo Cline delivered a key two‑run single in the sixth, and the Cougars tied the game in the seventh when Daysha Cook scored on an error. Fayetteville retook the lead in the ninth, but Frederick had one more push left. Alyvia Shew crossed the plate on a passed ball to tie it, and Brooke Renninger followed with a walk‑off single to right that brought home Yockelson and sealed the comeback. Yockelson, Cook, and Cline all turned in multi‑hit performances, and Sidock came back in relief to steady the game, allowing just one earned run over 5.1 innings to earn the win.
The sweep extends Frederick's winning streak to four games as the Cougars now shift their focus to their 2026 home opener. FCC returns to Frederick on Wednesday, March 4, hosting WVU Potomac State College in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
