Men's Basketball To Host Tip-Off Mixer This Weekend

Frederick, Md. – Men's basketball will open its 2016-17 campaign by hosting  the annual FCC Tip-Off Mixer Tournament this Friday at the Athletics Center on the campus of Frederick Community College. The schedule of games is listed below.  

The Cougars and fourth-year head Coach Emonte Hill are coming off a historical season. FCC punched their ticket to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament last season after taking care of business winning the Region XX Division II B Tourney with a convincing 20-point victory over Garrett College. This was the first appearance for the men's basketball program on the national stage.    

Coach Hill and his team are anxious to hit the hardwood and ready for the upcoming season!

"We are looking forward to an exciting 2016-17 season. We have a great group of kids who have been fun to be around from day one. We are beginning to come together as a family which is the beginning of our success. This group has a great mix of vets and youngsters."

"We will be led by three redshirt sophomores in Keith Claiborne, Anthony Isaac and Stacy Gipson. Those three guys were all on our 22-8 team from 14-15 who won the MD JUCO. We also add great experience in returning sophomores, Josiah Jones, Jacob McIntosh and Shane DeCelis, all who were a part of our Region XX championship last year. We also have some talented four year transfers in Nygel Blake and Tyre Gathright to go along with a great group of freshmen."
