The Frederick CC Cougars are the 2023 National Junior College Athletic Associations Region 20 Division 2 Baseball Champions. The Cougars defeated CCBC Essex Knights 8-2 in the first semifinal game on Friday, then overcame the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals 10-5 on Saturday. The Cougars then fell to CCBC Catonsville in a slugfest 16-10 but returned to route the Cardinals in the tiebreaker Regional Final game 18-6 on Sunday to win the 2023 Region 20 Baseball Title.
Frederick Cougars now advances to play in the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series May 27 – June 2/3 in Edin, OK.
This trip marks the ninth time the Cougars have made this trip to the Baseball World Series. This will be Coach Bennett's eighth Region 20 Championship Title ('07, '08, '10, '15, '19, '21, '22, & '23) and his sixth time ('07, '10, '15, '21, '22, & '23) trip to the NJCAA Baseball World Series and the third straight year making the trip to the national stage.
