Baseball Swept By Golden Eagles

FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick Community College baseball team hosted University of Charleston JV (WV) on Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader. FCC lost both games by the scores of 15-1 and 7-6 (8 innings). FCC is 21-13 overall on the season.

Game 1

FCC LHP Chris Altopiedi got the nod on the mound and carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning. However, after allowing two baserunners, he surrendered a 3-run homer putting the Golden Eagles up 3-1 after five innings. In the sixth inning, the Golden Eagles exploded for 12 hits, resulting in 9 runs. Altopiedi had a nice outing on the hill. He tossed five innings and struck out nine batters. He falls to 0-1 on the season.

For FCC, Thomas Gonzalez went 2-for-2 at the dish. Eric Naylor and Brady Harju each had a double.

Game 2

Both teams went back and forth trading the lead. In the end, the Golden Eagles would take game two in eight innings by the score of 7-6. FCC relief pitcher Travis Reapsome took the loss for the Cougars. He falls to 1-1 on the year. At the dish for FCC, Brady Harju and Austin Kuntz each had two hits. Mitch Long, Hayden Kissel, and Austin Kuntz each knocked in a run.

FCC will host Allegany College of Maryland on Thursday (4/19) afternoon for a single 9-inning game. First pitch is set for 3:00 P.M.
