Frederick, Md. - The Frederick Community College women's volleyball team picked up their first victory of the season on Tuesday night by sweeping Howard Community College by the score of 3-0. With the win, FCC evens up their record at 1-1 and the Dragons fall to 0-2 on the season.

The Cougars made quick work of the Dragons in the 60 minute match. Leading the way for the Cougars was FCC freshman Rylind Abshire. She shined bright in the victory by recording 10 kills (.692 hitting percentage) and two solo blocks as she continues to be a force at the net. Teammate Kioni Smith added another two solo blocks making that four solo block swats on Dragons. FCC outside hitter Jacqueline Ryan filled up the stat sheet with two aces of her own and seven kills. Madison France handed out a team-high 13 assists in the win.
As a team, the Cougars served up 10 aces in the three set match and dominated from the start. FCC libero Clarisse Diaz served up four aces of her own from the line.
FCC returns to action on September 10th when they host the Seahawks from Cecil College for a 7:00 P.M. match.
