FREDERICK, Md. (Aug. 29) - The Frederick Community College women's volleyball team dropped its home opener by the score of 3-0 to Montgomery College at the FCC Athletics Center on Thursday evening. The Cougars fall to 0-1 on the season, while the Raptors remain undefeated with a record of 3-0.
Kioni Smith (Martinsburg, WV/Martinsburg HS), Devyn Jacobson (Frederick, MD/Tuscarora HS), and Clarisse Diaz (Urbana, MD/Urbana HS) made their 2019 debut in the FCC uniform and didn't disappoint. The freshmen trio made an impact right from the first serve.
Smith racked up four kills, one ace, and a solo block. Jacobson provided a spark off the bench to get the job done by recording six kills, five serve receptions, and five digs. All-star libero Clarisse Diaz solidified the defense by posting 25 receptions and 15 digs. Sophomore Madison France dished out a team-high 16 assists on the night for the Cougars.
FCC returns to action on September 3rd when they host the Dragons from Howard Community College for a 7:00 P.M. match.
