The Frederick Community College Athletic Department has named Patti Westenberg as the new head volleyball coach, Associate Vice President/Dean of Students Jerry Haynes announced on August 31, 2018.
Westenberg has built herself quite a coaching resume that spans 15 years. She spent two years coaching the USA Michigan National Travel Team, as well as six years with the Michigan Elite Travel Team where she had more than 35 players move on to play collegiate volleyball. She also led Warren Cousino High School (Warren, MI) to a remarkable 98-58-1 record where she earned 2005-06 Macomb Area Conference Coach of the Year.
In 2009, Westenberg joined the Wayne State University volleyball staff as a volunteer assistant coach. She held that position for two years. While at Wayne State, Westenberg gained significant experience working with hitters and servers as well as in fundraising, scouting, and travel coordination.
A 2000 graduate of Warren Mott High School, Westenberg was an All-Region player and MVP at Macomb Community College (Warren, MI). She transferred to Division 1 Oakland University (Rochester, MI) to finish her playing career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in French in 2005 and completed her Master's Degree in Secondary Education in 2007.
Westenberg resides in Rockville, Maryland, with her husband, Eric and their two daughters. She still enjoys playing volleyball and currently competes in indoor, grass and sand leagues and tournaments.
