FREDERICK, Md. – For the second time in five days, the FCC women's soccer team would take on Hagerstown Community College. Today's contest was crucial as the Region XX DI Tourney officially kicked-off. The play-in game featured No. 5 seed Hagerstown CC against the No. 4 seed Frederick Community College. FCC dominated the game and won by the score of 6-1. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 6-3 overall on the year. More importantly, FCC advances to the Region XX D1 Tourney semifinals for a matchup with the No. 1 seed Harford Fighting Owls (11-2 overall) on Thursday (10/25/18). The game will begin at 4:00 P.M. at host site CCBC Catonsville.

Big time players step up in big time moments. That's what happened with today's victory over the Hawks. Lindsey Brant and Madison Sorrell came through in the clutch. Brant and Sorrell each scored two goals. Kelsey Bowers and Kaia Asmar chipped in with a goal each. Kelsey Wright was in a giving mood handing out two assists.

"We wanted to come out today and perform well for each other," said FCC Head Coach, Joachim Walker. "It was our first round playoff game, but more importantly it was sophomore night, and our last home game so we wanted to put together a good performance. I thought we started off exactly the way we needed to, being agressive and alert both offensively and defensively. We knew Hagertsown would come out very organized and start the game disciplined. Our speed of play and ball movement was not only good, it allowed us to keep them off-tempo and rhythm, and eventually allowed us to dictate the flow of the game. All in all, I am very proud of the group and the form we are in!"
