FREDERICK, Md. – The one-two punch of Lindsey Brant and Madison Sorrell continues to be a force on the pitch for the FCC women's soccer team! The dynamic duo combined for five goals in today's 9-0 victory over the College of Southern Maryland. With the victory, FCC improves to 4-3 (3-2 MD JUCO) overall and extends their win streak to three.
The Cougars jumped on the board early with a goal by Brant on the assist from Sorrell at the five minute mark in the first half. Sorrell would take care of business by netting three goals of her own to extend the lead to 4-0. Hillary Koranteng would get in the scoring column by finding the back of the net before the half, extending the lead to 5-0.
FCC would score four goals (Brant, Lea Nowak, Alicia Coats, Amira Krolow) in the second half as their offense continues to shine. Credit FCC goalkeeper Amanda Guimond for the shutout in today's victory.
Sorrell would finish the game with three goals and two assists. Brant found the back of the net twice and dished out two assists. Tristen Meyer had a solid game for the Cougars as she registered three assists. On the season, Brant and Sorrell have combined for a total of 24 goals!
The Cougars ended the week on a strong note and had one solid week. On Tuesday, the Cougars knocked off league leader Howard CC in a thrilling 6-5 OT win!
FCC will return to the pitch on Tuesday (10/16) when they host the Hawks from Hagerstown CC. The ball will drop at 2:00 P.M.
