Solid start doesn't last as FCC women's basketball team falls at WVU Potomac State College

KEYSER, West Virginia – A hot start did not last for the FCC women's basketball team Wednesday night at WVU Potomac State College as the Cougars lost the Region XX DII matchup by the score of 70-58. The Cougars came out clicking on all cylinders, scoring 21 points in the first frame, taking a seven point lead into the second quarter. However, the Catamounts would roar back in the final three quarters outscoring FCC, 56-37 to earn the win. This is the third straight road loss for FCC and they drop to 12-7 overall on the season. The Catamounts improve to 8-4, including winners of four straight.

Nia Powell recorded another double-double on the season by pouring in 12 points and hauling down a game-high 13 rebounds. Making her debut in a FCC uniform, Rebekah Ogren turned in a solid performance with seven points and 10 rebounds.

The Cougars were held to just 20-of-73 (27.4%) shooting in the contest, including a sluggish 5-of-31 from beyond the arc.

FCC returns to their home floor on Saturday against Community College of Beaver County for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
