Women's Basketball Runs Out of Gas in 85-69 Loss To Raptors

NORTH EAST, Md.- The #4 FCC women's basketball team hit the hardwood on Thursday afternoon against #5 Montgomery College in the quarterfinals of the Region XX DII Basketball Tournament held at Cecil College. FCC saw its season come to an end as the Raptors defeated the Cougars by the score of 85-69. FCC finished the season with an overall record of 12-12.


The Raptors would jump ahead in the first quarter by the score of 18-13. FCC would put together a solid second quarter thanks to seven points from Amiah Banks. At the half, FCC would take a 36-32 lead into the locker room. Heading into the final 10 minutes of the contest, the Raptors led 59-58. In the end, MC would pull away to secure the 16 point victory.

The story of the game was the inside play of MC's Nusaibah Rashad. She had a game that she will remember the rest of her life. She poured in 44 points and tallied 37 rebounds. The Raptors outrebound FCC, 73-28. That was the difference in the ball game.

Jone Ayers recorded a double-double in the loss. Ayers scored 27 points (14-16 FTs) and pulled down 11 boards in the loss. Skylar Robinson and Amiah Banks chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively. Augusta Kamara handed out seven assists for the Cougars. Credit the FCC starting lineup as they played the entire game. Both teams struggled shooting the ball. FCC hit on just 20-64 field goals. The Raptors were 0-13 from beyond the arc.
