CUMBERLAND, Md. - The Frederick Community College women's basketball team turned in a stellar performance on Saturday afternoon by defeating Allegany College of Maryland, 87-47. Kiara Campozano scored a game-high 21 points for FCC in the victory. The Cougars jumped out to an early 19-8 first quarter lead as the defense led the way with full-court pressure and multiple steals. The full-court pressure gave the Trojans problems all afternoon as FCC opened up a 46-22 lead after 20 minutes of play.
"We played one of our better halves of defense," said second year Head Coach Sheldon Henry. "The pressure and transition was very good."
In the second half, the Cougars opened up the lead to 70-36 and never looked back. Dajah Gee filled up the stat sheet and recorded a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Gee also dished out seven assists in the victory. Teammates Jone Ayers and Morgan Mitchell chipped in with 17 and 14 points respectively.
FCC sits at 13-10 (5-4 MD JUCO) overall on the season with 11 more victories than the previous season. Hats off to Coach Henry and his staff!
The Cougars will return to the hardwood on Wednesday (2/5) when they travel to Howard Community College to battle the Dragons. Tip-off is set for 5:00 P.M.
