BREAKING: Pair of FCC men’s soccer players commit to NCAA DI Universities

FREDERICK, Maryland – Congratulations to sophomore captain PJ Allen (Defender/Roanoke, VA/ Northside HS) and Vagner Marques-Rodriguez (Forward/Falls Church, VA/Falls Church HS) as they will continue their academic and athletic careers next fall at NCAA Division I schools. Allen committed to Eastern Illinois University under first-year Head Coach Ronnie Bouemboue. Bouemboue was a two-time All-ACC selection at NC State. Marques-Rodriguez Marques-Rodriguez will play for the Retrievers of UMBC this Fall under Hall of Fame Coach Pete Caringi Jr. This is the first year under Coach LaRocca's tenure that multiple players have committed to Division I schools.

PJ Allen

"I am unbelievably proud of PJ and his decision to attend Eastern Illinois. I can truly say there hasn't been a harder working student-athlete at FCC in my six years with the program. He created this opportunity with his performance in the classroom, on the field, and off the field. We coached him hard, we gave him a lot of responsibility and he never once complained. He was the only two year Captain under my tenure, his leadership was a large reason we were able to accomplish back to back Top 15 National Rankings in Division I Junior College soccer. I know Coach Bouemboue is excited for PJ to help build their program the same way he helped build ours. I am excited to watch him in his new chapter." Coach LaRocca

"I would like to thank everyone who's helped me get to where I am now. Especially my Mom, Dad, and Sister, thank you guys for supporting me throughout my career. I wouldn't be here without all my teammates from these last two years. You all have pushed me and help me grow as a player. Huge shout out to my coaches as well. You guys have helped me grow on the field, in the classroom, and as a person and I'm truly grateful for what I've learned from you. I'm happy to say I have committed to Eastern Illinois to continue my academic and playing career at the D1 level. One step closer to my dream." PJ Allen

Vagner Marques-Rodrgiuez

"Vagner did an excellent job competing in the classroom, on the field, and off the field while at FCC. Vagner scored a lot of big goals for FCC and I know he will do the same for UMBC. UMBC was interested in Vagner ever since he scored against them during our Spring scrimmage. They are ecstatic he's on their team next year. Not everyone is willing to sacrifice their everyday comforts to reach their dreams. Incredibly proud of you young man." Coach LaRocca

"Thank you for everyone who's been there for me and who has helped me through this long journey but I am happy that I can finally say that I have committed to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County to continue playing at the highest level of D1 soccer, and continuing my education. Thank you, everyone, coaches, family, friends, and especially my parents. Love you all. This game has taught me patience, love, sadness, and most important sacrifice...work hard, be patient opportunities will come, but you have to take it." Marques-Rodriguez
