FREDERICK, Maryland - Frederick Community College men's soccer player Gabe Catone-Highfield (Boone, NC/Watauga HS) has earned a spot on the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team. Catone-Highfield most recently took part in a tryout for the National team and will have the opportunity to participate in two ID camps coming up to establish his roster rank. He now joins Ahijah Joseph (Antigua U-20 National Team) and Bilal Hassane-Souley (Niger Senior National Team) as Frederick Cougars with National Team experience.
"I thank God for these opportunities and I look to continue to prosper. I am excited to face the challenges that are ahead of me", said Catone-Highfield.
During his freshman campaign, Catone-Highfield tallied eight points. The FCC men's soccer team finished the season with a record of 11-5 and was ranked as high as #14 in NJCAA Division I national polls in 2019.
"We are incredibly proud of Gabe on being selected to represent his country," said FCC Head Men's Soccer Coach, John LaRocca. "He has really been working hard on and off the field and I am glad that he has taken advantage of this opportunity. I know that his teammates are very proud of him as well."
