CATONSVILLE, Md. – For the second time in as many years, the CCBC Essex Knights defeated No. 11 Frederick Community College in the Region XX DI tourney on penalty kicks. The Knights will take on Montgomery College for the Region XX DI Championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Credit both teams for a well-played match. 110 minutes was not enough to decide a winner in this match. The Knights found the back of the net on their first attempt in penalty kicks. The Cougars misfired on their first attempt. CCBC Essex would outscore FCC, 4-2 in PKs to claim the victory.

Hamza Iguidre (Jonatan Gonzalez) found the back of the net in the second half to put the Knights up 1-0 in the 57th minute. FCC would knot the contest up in the 64th minute as Jonatan Andrade (Carlos Guevera) scored for the Cougars.

FCC ends the season with a record of 11-1-1 (8-1 MD JUCO). Congratulations to FCC Head Coach John LaRocca and the entire men's soccer team on a successful season.
