In the 76th minute Andrei Niculae took the ball down the line and had a shot on the keeper, Aron Vidaurre put in a top corner rebound. In the 80th minute, Aron received a beautiful cross from Niculae again and sealed the match for the Cougars.
"I saw it was a very close game and we were down a man so I knew I had to take advantage of my time I had on the field. We worked through a man down and got the win we deserved "said Vidaurre.
Marco De Lauri, a captain for the men's soccer team, said "I feel the boys had a tough first half which led us to be frustrated coming off the field at halftime. But from a great talk by coach and Carlos and I at half time, we got that determination, courage and fire in our stomachs to win the game even with a man down. I'm very proud of how the boys responded from the first half and now after this victory we head back into practice and we focus on the next game."
"It wasn't the prettiest game of ours, but winning 3-1, a man down for half the game, says a lot about this team. We refused to lose, and I'm really happy this team responded well to adversity early in the season. I am so proud of Vidaurre and Niculae for coming into the game and giving us 2 huge goals." said Head Coach John LaRocca.
The Cougars next conference game is in Baltimore against CCBC Catonsville at 5:00 PM, Monday Sept 5th.
