MONT ALTO, PA – The one-two punch of Juwan Burnett and AJ Gregory came up big time for FCC as the dynamic duo tallied 39 points in the 84-77 win over the Nittany Lions of Penn State Mont Alto on Tuesday night. With the win, FCC sits at a perfect 3-0 on the season. The Nittany Lions fall to 1-2.
Burnett (8-of-14 FGs) paced the Cougars with 20 points and Gregory (6-of-9 FGs) poured in 19 in the win. Domantas Sakickas and Devon Knaub chipped in with 13 and 11 points respectively. Sakickas pulled down a game-high eight rebounds for the Cougars.
FCC shot well from the field connecting on 30-of-65 (46.2) from the field. They did a solid job protecting the rock, only committing 10 miscues. The Cougar defense forced the Nittany Lions into 16 turnovers.
The Cougars built a 34-26 lead at the end of the first half, however, the Nittany Lions would come roaring back to take a 45-43 lead two minutes into the second. But in the end, it was too much offense from Burnett and Gregory as the Cougars closed out the contest with a seven point win.
The Cougars will return to the hardwood on 11/20 when they open up conference play at home vs. Prince George's Community College. Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM at the Athletics Center.
