Nighthawks spoil sophomore night for Cougars

FREDERICK, Md.- At times in sports, you have to give credit where credit is due. A 'tip of the cap' to  Michael Elliot of Northern Virginia CC on a stellar performance tonight. He set the school record by scoring 41 points to lead the Nighthawks over #19 Frederick CC by the score of 105-87. The lefty knocked down 12-of-19 from beyond the arc and was hot from the field all night. Norther Virginia CC buried a total of 18 3-pointers in the victory. With the loss, FCC falls to 19-10 on the season as the Nighthawks improve to 14-11.

Four out of the five FCC starters registered double digit points. Ben Meredith led the way with 18 points on 8-of-14 from the field. David Garey chipped in with 16 points and dished out four assists. Juwan Burnett scored 15 points in 25 minutes of action off the bench. Dwayne Garner and Corey Barnett tallied 11 and 10 points respectively.

The same two teams will meet again on March 8, 2019, in the Region XX DII Tournament held at Cecil College. Tipoff is slated for noon.
