BALTIMORE, Md. – A pretty special week for Head Coach Emonte Hill, his coaching staff, and the No. 18 FCC men's basketball team as they cracked the NJCAA DII national poll on Tuesday, picked up a convincing win over Cecil College on Wednesday, and picked up a key road win over Baltimore City Community College in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars clawed their way to a 75-72 win over the Panthers. With the victory, FCC improves to 10-1 overall and extends their win streak to eight games. BCCC falls to 10-3 on the year.
FCC freshman Corey Barnett continues to shine on the court. The 6-4 shooting guard can beat you deep as well as finish near the rim. He had a team-high 18 points to pace the Cougars. Big man Henry Okoye recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and cleaning up on the glass, hauling down 13 boards. The captain of the offense continues his consistent play at the point as David Garey poured in 17 points and dished out seven assists. Garey has reached double figures in points in 10 out of 11 games this season. Ben Meredith chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds.
FCC will return to the hardwood on Sunday afternoon when they square off against Northern Virginia Community College at Baltimore City Community College as part of the Ben Williams Classic. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 P.M.
