Baltimore (October 23, 2018) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today released its 2018-19 Men's Basketball Coaches Association Pre-Season Poll. Harford Community College leads the way, narrowly edging out Baltimore City Community College, as the two teams split the 14 first-place votes.
"The coaches in this league have all worked hard to recruit many high caliber student-athletes in Maryland and the surrounding states," said Maryland JUCO Men's Basketball Coaches Association President and Harford head men's basketball coach Mike Smelkinson. "That combined with the fact that there are many talented returners, indicate that it will be a year filled with entertaining games, and a tight race for the conference title."
Frederick Community College (third), Allegany College of Maryland (fourth) and Montgomery College (fifth) round out the top five.
Cecil College (sixth), College of Southern Maryland (seventh) and Garrett College (eighth) are next, followed by Prince George's Community College (ninth) and Howard Community College (tenth) to finish up the top ten.
Last season's Maryland JUCO Men's Basketball Tournament championship, hosted by Prince George's, saw Harford defeat Cecil 71-62 to capture the conference title.
