Men's Basketball Wins OT Thriller at BCCC, 80-75
BALTIMORE, Md. – The No. 13 FCC men's basketball team hit the road on Saturday to take on the Panthers of Baltimore City Community College. Extra time would be needed for this contest as the two teams battled to a 69-69 score in regulation. FCC would outscore the Panthers 11-6 in overtime to pick up a solid 80-75 victory. The Cougars improve to 16-2 (7-1 MD JUCO) on the season and extend their winning streak to 11 games.
Any basketball coach will tell you that a team's success relies so heavily on solid guard play. FCC Head Coach Emonte Hill is fortunate to have the 1-2 punch of Morris Robinson and Marlon White Jr. leading the Cougar offense. The dynamic duo combined for a total of 45 points on Saturday, connecting on 14-of-29 field goals. Robinson quarterbacked the Cougar offense with a game-high 23 points and White Jr. chipped in with 22 points. Teammate Keon Claiborne continues to provide spark off the bench netting 10 points in the victory. Dashon Bell and Dwayne Garner battled on the boards all game and picked up seven rebounds each.
The Cougars shot the ball very well on Saturday by connecting on 25-of-56 (44%) field goals. The Panthers outrebound the Cougars 56-38, however, FCC continues to play stingy defense on the season forcing BCCC into 19 miscues.
FCC returns to the hardwood on Wednesday (1/24/18) when they play host to Prince George's Community College. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 P.M. at the Athletics Center.
