White Jr. Sizzles Nets In Victory For Cougars

FREDERICK, Md, - The Frederick Community College men's basketball team kicked off the 2017-18 season with a solid win over Delaware Tech Community College by the score of 82-65 on Friday night. FCC sits at 1-0 on the season.

Delaware Tech Community College entered Friday night's contest winners of two of the last three games against FCC. The Cougars were up for the challenge to start the 2017-2018 season. Morris Robinson Jr. put FCC on the board early as he drove to the basket and converted on the three-point play as he was fouled on the drive. Morris Robinson brought the fans to their feet as he threw down a fast break dunk early in the first half.

At the 15 minute mark in the first half of the game, both teams were struggling to find offense, resulting in a 7-4 score. Then Marlon White took over for the Cougars. He proceeded to make three big jumpers from beyond the arc in a six minute span. The first half rounded out with Ben Meredith hitting a huge three point field goal to send the Cougars into the half with a 32-25 halftime lead. 

Dashon Bell started the second half off strong with a driving lay-up plus the foul to give FCC the 41-33 lead with 15 minutes to go in the game. At the 13 minute mark of the second half, Marlon White, Jr. came off the bench again for the Cougars, and he did not disappoint as he provided instant offense. White., Jr took over the game knocking down four 3-point field goals in just a five minute span.

With five minutes to play, Del Tech would not go away without a battle, cutting into the lead to 63-57. FCC would seal the game in the closing minutes with a deep 3-point field goal from Morris Robinson, followed by a driving lay-up by Dashon Bell.

Frederick was lead be Marlon White, Jr. who finished with a game high 24 points, knocking down seven 3-point field goals. Dashon Bell contributed 14 points and teammate Morris Robinson scored 13. FCC had a solid performance from Keon Claiborne who chipped in with 11 points.

FCC will return to the hardwood on Saturday (11/4) at 3:00 P.M. when they host Valley Forge Military College.
