#17 Baseball Remains Perfect To Start The Season

Demorest, Georgia – The FCC baseball team hit the diamond on Thursday afternoon and took care of business with a clean sweep over Piedmont College JV. The Cougars sit at 6-0 overall on the season.

Two Pitchers Combine In Shutout As Cougars Blank Lions

Piedmont College JV 0

No. 17 FCC defeated Piedmont College JV by the count of 11-0 on Thursday afternoon as Nick Karlinchak and Max Cannon combined for the shutout. Karlinchak picks up the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. He went four innings, allowing just one hit while striking out seven.

The Cougars exploded for six runs in the sixth inning led by Jacob Berry, Connor Hanafin, Brett Stallings, Justin Acal, and Nicco German, all driving in runs in the frame.

FCC tallied nine hits in the win. Acal (2-3, 2 BB), Stallings (2-3, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBIs), and Hanafin (2-3, 2 R, 2 RBIs) all collected multiple hits. Teammates German (2B, 2 RBIs) and Neveker (2B, 2 R) each chipped in with doubles.

Cougars Win High-Scoring Affair over Lions

Max Proctor (1-0) earned the victory on the mound for the Cougars. He allowed four hits and three runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kyle Hoeth, Ryan Berry, and Aidan Baadte all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering FCC to victory.

FCC secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower was led by Kevon Wharton, Brett Stallings, Justin Acal, Jacob Wetzel, and Priamo Lozada, all knocking in runs in the inning.

The Cougars racked up seven hits. John Cummings (2B) and Spencer Rhoads (2B) each collected multiple hits in the win. The Cougars were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.

COACHING MILESTONE

A special night on the diamond for FCC Head Coach Rodney Bennett. With today's sweep, he picks up victories #649 & #650. Coach Bennett has an overall record of 650-263. (.711 winning percentage).

ON DECK

FCC will hit the diamond for a doubleheader on Saturday (2/29) vs. Delta College at part of the RussMatt Invitational (Winter Haven, FL). First pitch is slated for 11:00 AM.
