FREDERICK, Md.- Dan Gerjets, assistant baseball coach at Frederick Community College for the past three years, has been named to the same position at Mount St. Mary's University (Emmitsburg, Maryland). He started his new position on August 1st, 2019. In his new role, Gerjets will work specifically with infielders and hitters at The Mount. The Mount finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 15-35.
For the past three seasons, Gerjets served as assistant baseball coach at Frederick Community College. The Cougars tallied 111 wins the past three season with Gerjets playing an integral part on the FCC coaching staff.
"We're all excited for Coach Gerjets and this wonderful opportunity," said FCC Head Coach Rodney Bennett. "His goal is to be a head collegiate coach and he earned this with the outstanding job he did at FCC and this is a step in the right direction. It's another successful story for our Cougar Athletic Department and our baseball program specifically."
Coach Gerjets earned his Bachelor's degree in Sports Management at George Mason University and was a member of the Patriots baseball team. The southpaw had a solid career on the mound and contributed to the success of the GMU program. From 2012-2015, he served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Anne Arundel CC.
Gerjets is accomplished in all phases of the game as he served as the hitting and defensive coach the past three seasons at FCC. This past year, the Cougars batted .317 and had a slugging percentage of .495. The Cougar baseball team had a stellar 2019 campaign with an overall record of 36-15 and was crowned Region XX DII Champions.
